About Cayenne
Cayenne (capsicum/chili pepper) is used in pet products primarily as a flavoring, topical deterrent, or ingredient in homemade remedies rather than a meaningful nutrient, and contains capsaicin which produces a hot, pungent effect. It has negligible nutritional benefit for dogs and cats and can irritate the mouth, eyes and gastrointestinal tract—especially in cats—so it should be used cautiously or avoided, and you should consult your veterinarian if a pet is exposed to or ingests significant amounts.
