About Persimmon

Persimmon is a fruit occasionally used in pet foods and treats for natural flavor, moisture and soluble fiber, offering small amounts of vitamins (notably A and C), potassium and antioxidant compounds. While its fiber and antioxidants may support digestion and general health in dogs when given in moderation, persimmons are high in natural sugars and tannins—especially unripe fruit—and seeds or pits can cause intestinal blockage or gastric phytobezoars, so only ripe, seedless fruit should be offered sparingly and it has limited nutritional necessity for obligate‑carnivore cats.
