Chicken Bone Broth With Chicken Breast Topper

Chicken bone broth is commonly used as a palatability enhancer and hydration topper in dog and cat diets, supplying gelatin, collagen-derived amino acids and trace minerals that may support joint comfort and gut health while making food more appealing. It is not a complete food, so choose low-sodium, additive-free products (avoid broths containing onion, garlic or excessive fat), and ensure no bone fragments are present—use caution with pets that have pancreatitis, sodium-sensitive conditions, or known food sensitivities.

Chicken breast is a lean, highly digestible animal protein commonly used in dog and cat foods to supply essential amino acids for muscle maintenance, growth, and overall energy while contributing relatively little fat. It is palatable and often featured in limited-ingredient or weight-management formulas, but can be a common food allergen for some pets and—especially in home-prepared or raw diets—requires proper cooking/handling and should be part of a nutritionally complete formula (cats in particular still need guaranteed taurine and other nutrients).

Guar gum is a soluble plant-derived fiber commonly used in pet foods as a thickener, stabilizer and emulsifier to improve texture, moisture retention and prevent separation in wet foods, gravies and coatings. It provides little nutritional value beyond soluble fiber—which can help stool consistency and modestly slow digestion—but excessive amounts may cause gastrointestinal upset or affect nutrient absorption, so it is used at controlled low levels and is generally considered safe for most dogs and cats.
