About Paprika
Paprika is a mild spice used in small amounts in pet foods mainly for color and flavor, and it contains carotenoid pigments that have antioxidant properties and can contribute trace amounts toward vitamin A activity but are not a significant nutritional source for dogs or cats. Generally safe at low levels, paprika can cause gastrointestinal or skin irritation in sensitive animals—especially hot/spicy varieties that contain capsaicin—so it should be avoided in large quantities and in diets for pets with known sensitivities.
